WGC Res under the joint management of Sav Caliskan and Russ Giblin travelled to SSML Reserve South & East leaders Hoddesdon, after making a solid start in the new duo's first match in charge, at Oxhey Jets.
Hoddesdon Res have dropped just five points all season and were straight on the attack, taking the lead in 12 minutes with a well worked gol.
There were good debuts from Leo Gibbon, Luke Rogers, Joe Williams, Tom Gajjar and Callum Scott in the new look WGC side, but some mis-communciation from a corner led to a second Hoddesdon goal for a 2-0 lead.
WGC Res enjoyed much of the play after this second reversal and capped their improvement with a goal from Callum Scott that raised spirits and gave the promise of something more.
But the visitors had the wind knocked completely out of them by a penalty award, with Luke Rogers' challenge looking to have won the ball cleanly and none of the home team appealed. The contentious spot-kick was converted and Hoddesdon went on to victory.
Said co-boss Giblin: " Pulling together a brand new side with five untested players was always going to be hard against opposition who are flying in our division. It's a disheartening feeling to feel that we have been reffed out of the game in both our recent games. But we'll go again in our remaining games to get the points, our performances deserve.''
