WELWYN GC made it two wins from three, when they claimed their second Essex Senior League scalp of pre-season, with this 3-1 success at Clapton's renowned Old Spotted Dog ground, in Forest Gate, East London on Wednesday evening.

Adam Fisher's side followed up their victory over Enfield 1893 at Harlow the previous week and the narrow loss to Southern League Barton Rovers, with this hard-working win over a side that WGC put out of the FA Vase last season.

New forward signing Ashley Kersey showed he could be the man to fill the gap left by Joel Norris' summer departure, by scoring twice in quick succession early in the second-half - his first goals for the club since a close season move from Bedford FC.

Clapton pulled a goal back, but WGC restored their two goal advantage with a rare goal from right-back and new vice-captain Sam Perrin and held the 3-1 lead until the final whistle.
